At MCC teachers are employed for one goal alone – to provide a world-class Canadian pre-university education to each child. This means that unlike other schools, MCC teachers are free from the distractions of competing obligations. Furthermore, Maple Canadian College is the only program in Nigeria specifically designed with the African student in mind after almost two decades of facilitating the transition of African secondary school students into global colleges and universities and understanding their unique strengths and weaknesses in the global classroom. By enrolling in MCC, students will enjoy a customized world-class program, right in Nigeria. In addition, the MCC curriculum utilizes 21st century digital learning platform, provided through Rosedale Academy (BSID# 668726), an Ontario Ministry of Education-inspected private secondary school, with experience and success in preparing students from Africa, Europe, North America, Asia, and Latin America for academic studies in the world’s top 200 universities.
Yes, MCC’s University Pathway program is designed for students who have completed secondary school in Nigeria and other parts of Africa. The Canadian curriculum differs from the WAEC curriculum, and MCC’s University Pathway Program will specifically equip students to be able to tackle university-level subjects in Canada, US, UK, and beyond. Students from MCC will be treated no differently by university admissions officers from students already studying in Canada. This will give them a great advantage over other international students. The combination of great WASSCE results and great MCC results will thus serve as a boost to your child’s university admissions profile and in some cases, may improve their chances of scholarships and other university entrance awards.
Yes, MCC students graduate with an Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) from Rosedale Academy. The OSSD is recognized as a top educational diploma globally. OSSD students are thus at an advantage during the university admissions process compared to most other international students, and many universities across the world will consider the average score of the student’s courses in the University Pathway program in place of standardized test results such as the SAT, A–Level and Gaokao.
Below are other specific examples of the test waivers MCC students will enjoy:
- In the USA, many universities will not require the SAT for MCC students (for admission or scholarship purposes) because they will qualify as OSSD students with 6 Grade 12 university-level courses.
- Due to the similarities in curriculum between Ontario schools and schools in the United Kingdom and Australia, A-level and other tests are not required from MCC students applying to those countries because of their OSSD status.
- MCC students can also enjoy other advantages with schools in Singapore and Malaysia where the IELTS/TOEFL requirement is waived for OSSD applicants who score more than 80% in Grade 12 English.

Maple Canadian College has highly-qualified teachers whose primary goal is to equip students for academic and professional success. While we do not use the term “expat teacher” at our school, our teaching and administrative staff body comprises people of diverse nationalities ,all of whom are Canadian-trained. When a new teacher joins our school, that teacher is retrained in line with our educational standards, regardless of their prior training and certifications. Furthermore, we have a dedicated curriculum and assessment team wholly composed of Canadian-certified teaching experts.
In order to fulfill our mission of providing individualized and differentiated instructions to each student, MCC class sizes are intentionally kept small. The teacher-student ratio can range from 1:25 for the core courses to 1:5 for electives.
Applications for the first round of admissions are due on or before March 13, 2019.
Your child will be admitted based on his/her performance on our entrance test. As a student of MCC, your child will be considered in the same admissions pool as students already studying in Canada (different from regular international students). The advantage of the Canadian passport is that unlike most other MCC students who are interested in going to Canada for post-secondary studies, your child will not need to be part of the visa application process.
MCC aims to prepare gifted students for successful post-secondary studies in the world’s great universities and colleges and our admissions policy strictly reflects this goal. Students will be offered admission based on the strength of their application as well as their performance on our entrance tests.
Applicants who are successful in the first phase of the application process will be invited for an entrance examination in April, 2019 at one of our designated test centres in Lagos, Port Harcourt, and Abuja. Results will be announced via email in May.
While there is no official age criterion for admission, we generally accept students between the ages of 14 and 20

To pay for registration, please call or email our office for the 2019/ 2020 academic year Fee Schedule.
The registration fee, once paid, is not refundable.
The first half of the tuition fee is due by July 29, 2019. The balance of the tuition fee is due by the first week of classes. The school reserves the right to exclude students without notice if fees are not paid.
All students must resume on the first day of school. Boarding students will resume two days earlier in order to get settled in their new living environment. Parents who are bringing their children from other countries (or back from summer holidays abroad) must make adequate arrangements to have their students in Lagos a few days before school starts, to prevent the risk of flight cancellations and delays. Students who miss the first week of school will not be permitted to join the rest of the class midway as this undermines the learning experience for other students who resume on time.
Unless in extenuating circumstances, all fees paid to the school are non-refundable once school starts. At the end of the academic year, certain deposits such as the security and boarding deposits will be refunded to students who leave their furniture and appliances in good condition.
Prospective parents can meet with a member of staff during visiting hours. Parents of enrolled students can contact the teacher, counselor or principal’s office directly to schedule a visit.
Yes, the guidelines for the school uniform are provided in the student handbook given to all admitted students.
Yes, our cafeteria is open to the students during designated meal times and will offer a menu of local, continental and intercontinental dishes to the students, reflecting the rich diversity of our student and staff body.
MCC has school buses for student excursions as well as daily trips to the residential and recreational facilities. Provision of a school bus to transport students from and to their homes will be considered based on the number of students who require it.
In its quest to provide a well-rounded education experience to all students, MCC offers an array of extracurricular and co-curricular activities for students. These range from team sports like football and basketball to other activities like track and field and fitness.
